Emily Taylor

Emily Taylor is a third year UCLA student from Santa Monica. She started her music journey at age eight playing violin with the Sol-La music academy studying violin under Margaret Lysy. She continued her studies through the Elemental Strings program and the Sol-La Music Academy Ensemble. She has participated in the Montecito International Music Festival and the MusicAlp International French Academy studying under world renowned teachers and performers. Emily has been a member of the Symphony and Chamber Orchestra at Santa Monica High School participating in tours to Argentina, Uruguay, and New York. She is currently working towards a Music Education degree and plans to get her teaching credentials.

As much as Emily loves playing, to her there is nothing more rewarding than helping someone else learn. There is no greater joy for her as an artist than to give joy to others through music. Emily believes that beyond pure enjoyment, the discipline and teamwork that is necessary to play an instrument helps students toward success in any field they choose to enter. She seeks every opportunity to develop this passion with younger musicians and to give back to the community that has supported her so much. Emily is looking forward to the next year as a teaching fellow at Elemental Strings to see what positive impact she can have on the lives of others through music, and to learn from the best music educators.
