program Description
Academy Chamber Singers is our advanced vocal chamber choir for students in grades 6–8.
This vocal chamber ensemble brings together advanced middle school vocalists in a small, highly collaborative choral setting. Evolving from the vocal track of our Chamber Muisc Institute, this program offers dedicated singers the opportunity to refine their artistry, independence, and leadership in an intimate ensemble environment.
Academy Chamber Singers is ideal for motivated young vocalists seeking a rigorous and supportive environment where they can grow as musicians, collaborators, and leaders. Students take an active role in shaping the ensemble, from leading vocal warmups to offering musical insights and developing the listening and communication skills essential to high-level vocal chamber singing.
Students in this program often have opportunities to appear in high-profile events and outreach performances, including performances such as Westside Ballet’s Nutcracker and BroadStage’s Pre-Show on the Plaza.
Elemental Music strongly recommends that all participants also participate in their middle school music program to the satisfaction of their music director.

SCHEDULE & TUITION
Academy Chamber Singers meets on Saturdays from 10:00am–12:00pm at the Elemental Music campus (1906 Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica).
Tuition for the 2026/27 season is approximately $450/trimester, for a total of $1,350 for the season. Tuition averages to approximately $24/hour. Participation is a year-long commitment (27 rehearsals).
Early Bird Discount for those who enroll by June 1: $25
Non-refundable deposit of $250 is due upon enrollment.
Tuition reduction is available on a sliding scale. Our Tuition Reduction Form is short & sweet. Please submit your form ASAP so we can help determine a family-friendly tuition rate for you and start making music! Payment plans are also available.
Auditions
During the Academy Chamber Singers audition, students will be asked to demonstrate the following elements:
pitch matching--echoing pitches sung by the director to demonstrate accuracy and intonation
singers will sing 5 note scale patterns (do-re-mi-fa-sol) with piano to determine range and current vocal development
perform a short folk or classical solo selection sung a cappella (no pop or musical theatre please) to demonstrate vocal proficiency and expressive ability. (ex: Happy Birthday, America (My Country 'tis of Thee, Caro Mio Ben, Star Spangled Banner)
